Accident investigation
I am skilled in accident investigation. If you are faced with an accident in the workplace and lack the knowledge and experience to investigate correctly, don’t worry. I assist with everything from collating witness statements, reviewing outcomes, liaising with authorities/insurers and producing action plans to prevent a further occurrence.
Policy and procedures writing
Over the years I’ve been involved in writing various policy and procedural documents to support certified Integrated Management Systems and tailored H&S management systems. Although I’m keen to reduce the amount of paperwork produced, there is a need for some basic written information on higher risk subjects. It is important to set out clear intentions on how such risks are managed. Give me a brief run down of your requirements and I’ll work alongside you to create tailored documents.
Safety inspections and audits
Don’t know where to begin when it comes to managing health and safety within your business or production? Allowing me to visit your workplace is a great starting point. If I attend the premises I will understand what your business does, how it operates and quickly be able to produce an outline plan for the future. I will review current practices and documentation, chat with employees, and provide a summary of key health and safety considerations and risks. By producing an action plan for the future and working on solutions together you can feel confident that H&S is being managed correctly.
Risk Assessments
Risk assessments don’t have to be difficult or lengthy. I support by working with your teams, writing sensible and specific risk assessments on any subject matter. The resulting documents are relevant and targeted, and include appropriate communication techniques once complete. Far too often risk assessments are completed without considering the whole process of informing those affected. Alternatively, if you would like an independant audit of your risk assessment portfolio I provide a thorough analysis, concentrating on key business risks.
Telephone and email advice
I completely understand that if you are a small business or TV production company the budget is incredibly tight. You don’t want to pay a consultant for a days work when you know it might only be one question that you need to ask, or a two hour safety walk/inspection. If you need a little bit of advice now and again, a quick studio set check, or have just one question? bespoke training sessions
Tailored training sessions are brilliant for engaging teams. I cover anything from; fire warden, DSE (display screen equipment) and office safety, risk assessment writing workshops, TV production safety, manual handling, working at height, ladder toolbox talks and COSHH (control of substances hazardous to health). Collaboratively, I’ll create training that is relevant by developing case studies using industry specific material. Send me a note to see how I would engage your employees.
TV & Film
Technical recce attendance and production meetings
Need a review of one location or have a production that can’t be covered by internal resource? Occasionally you would like a H&S Advisor around for the whole recce. In whatever form the support takes, I deliver. I write recce notes and list out key hazards with sensible risk reducing actions which accompany current working methods. Any information provided is used to develop production’s risk assessments. Depending on the risks associated with production, I attend as many production meetings as required, and write tailored departmental risk assessments, giving you the peace of mind they have been completed correctly.
On set support
I offer a range of on set support. I conduct safety checks/walks prior to filming, or on set visibility during stunt and SFX days. By being there I provide reassurance and pragmatic, common sense problem solving when required.
On site support
If you have a large production or set build I provide on site attendance on a regular basis during prep to oversee builds. I’ve had experience of big set builds including the CDM elements. Having the regular presence of a H&S professional ensures contractors are monitored and any H&S decisions are made quickly during prep, minimising delays.
